Abstract

The antiarrhythmic agent, amiodarone, has generated considerable interest and enthusiasm in the United States because of its reported efficacy in treating a variety of arrhythmias, its unique pharmacologic, properties and its variety of adverse side effects. This article will review current information pertinent to the clinical use of amiodarone. While not available for general clinical use, amiodarone has found fairly widespread investigational use in this country, so such a review appears timely.
