Retroperitoneal lymph node dissection has been used for staging and treating testis cancer for the past several decades. Early reports of both the thoracoabdominal and transabdominal approaches described very infrequent and minor complications. The generally good cardiovascular and pulmonary status of these patients accounts substantially for the good tolerance of the procedure.
