Abstract

The main complication of sphincter of Oddi manometry is pancreatitis. Reports have noted a pancreatitis rate after sphincter of Oddi manometry even higher than that for diagnostic or therapeutic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. If measures are not taken to prevent pancreatitis, this complication seriously limits the clinical use of sphincter of Oddi manometry. Safety measures reviewed in this article should greatly improve the margin of safety for sphincter of Oddi manometry.
