Down-regulation by drugs of the increased signal transduction in cancer cells

Abstract

1. Signal transduction capacity is amplified in cancer cells. 2. Drugs which down-regulate or inhibit the activities of PI 4-kinase and PIP kinase reduce IP3 concentration in cancer cells. 3. Tiazofurin, quercetin, genistein, tamoxifen and ribavirin inhibit in various phases of the cell cycle and at different attacking points of signal transduction. 4. Combinations are synergistic in cytotoxicity and in reducing IP3 concentration: tiazofurin + quercetin, tiazofurin + genistein, tiazofurin + tamoxifen, tamoxifen + genistein, ribavirin + quercetin, and quercetin + genistein.
