Abstract

Some structural parameters of the If1 virion have been measured. The DNA is a single-stranded circle, 1.5 times larger than fd DNA, with one molecule of If1 DNA per virion. Self-complementary regions in If1 DNA are indicated. There are three or four molecules of the minor coat protein (A-protein) per virion in both If1 and fd. The amino acid composition of the If1 major coat protein (B-protein) is similar to that of fd B-protein.
