Abstract

Regional orbital anesthesia provides superior anesthesia and akinesia in comparison to other forms of local ophthalmic anesthesia. Its risks, although uncommon, are potentially devastating. Keys to prevention include proper patient selection, well-trained personnel, and meticulous attention to detail.
