Abstract

Multiple right paratracheal lucencies were found on chest computed tomographic (CT) examination of a 25-year-old woman with cystic fibrosis. The abnormalities were not present on two prior CT scans. Spiral CT showed connections between the trachea and the air collections. Multiple tracheal diverticula were confirmed by bronchoscopic examination. Esophageal, sinus, and periodontal evaluations did not reveal fistulous tracts. The abnormalities are felt to represent acquired tracheal diverticula due to chronic suppurative lung disease.
